Right now, it is sometimes unclear why moves that seem legal are actually prevented by events or court cards. this creates confusion for players and more work for the developer.
For example, in a recent game, when taking a "Battle" action I was prevented from removing a spy from an opponent's court card. At first I though this was an error and looked for a similar error report. A player had encountered a similar issue, however, the rules were followed correctly because a court card (Mohan Lal) prevents spies from being removed from a player's court cards by battling. In other words, I was incorrect the game followed the rules correctly.
I suggest that if an event or court card prevents an action that a red banner pop-up or tooltip appears and says why an action is prevented. This might require the UI to give players the option to take a move that will be ultimately prevented. For example, if a player wants to battle to remove a spy from a court card, the player would see the piece be highlighted as if they could battle, but when they attempt to take the action, a banner pops up saying "Mohan Lal - Spies cannot be removed in battle with other spies" or any associated textt from another card that prevents the move.
