I remember a very old online version that showed dice statistics.
It doesn't add any real quality to the game, I agree for that.
It just relaxes me a bit if I see someone winning because his 11 is rolled more often than my 6 (not because I am a bad player)
And we kept screenshots of crazy statistics, winning a game with 8 times a 2 roll and only 2 times an 8 roll for example :-)

Also, the display was a histogram of the number of times the number rolled (without showing the %), and I think it was more appropriate :)

I agree this is nice to have during the game to see how many times certain dice were rolled.

2022년 6월 30일 19:03 • Yes the real time display is helpful when you try to negotiate with players and say things like "I only ever got 1 wheat from that spot, please don't block it". It's helpful to make sure you're being accurate based on the history of dice that was rolled (And since it's in the game log, it's not new information, just collecting it into a popup or tooltip somewhere)

2022년 7월 28일 10:07 • I agree that the random number generator being used is broken and not fit for purpose - it clearly is not providing a distribution you would expect from two D6. Statistics would only serve to emphasise this. BGA just need to fix the RNG otherwise game is not playable.

2022년 8월 5일 16:43 • I can confirm the camillemayer suggestion. On BSW, a panel contained an histogram automatically refreshed after each dice throw. It was just as information, but it avoid a lot of non fact-based messages in the chat. For me, display it during the game is really a simple implementation and can make the ambiance better during the game

2022년 8월 10일 14:50 • the old playcatan website of circa 2010 used to have this "number of dice rolls" histogram. It was off by default but users could click a button to display it if they wanted to. It was useful to see what the distribution was when you couldn't understand why you were doing so badly, to see that 3 and 11 had come up loads and your 5-6-9 combo hadn't happened much (at that point) and then later you could see the distribution change. Or sometimes not change and you could just chalk it down to weird dice that game. It's not essential but it is useful. Particularly when you get a whiner in the chat who thinks the game is persecuting them etc.

However, I started settlement on a 5 brick, and it was my first upgrade to a city early game, there was never a robber on it, so how is that possible?

The last game I played had 8 and 9 rolled twice as much as they would have been in a normal distribution and 5 rolled half as much, but more notably the die clearly favored one player and punished one player. I've noticed this now on many games. It's really not fun to play with a die that is so obviously not random.

There were also useful summary tallies of how many resources each player had received/traded/had blocked/had robbed/received by robbery available in real time too. It was far more useful in-game and easier to read than the end game table presented on BGA.

I just had a game where a player threw 7 times 7 in consecutive turns, games with hardly 6 or 8, but an amazing amount of 5 and 9. Even games where there were more 2 and 12 than 4 or 10. Distribution is weird, to say the least.

#1 for sure (if I want my 10 to be rolled, I put the robber on the other 10 - it doesn't guarantee it, but seems to increase the probability)

Cities and Knights has a card called Inventor that allows you to switch 2 numbers on the board (not 2, 6, 8, 12). In real life, I always get myself a 5 or a 9 and give away a 3 or 11. With these weird dice, I see players doing the opposite.

So it is not really the fault of the Game Site or the Developers. Just much harder to do than most people realize.

The odds of rolling 63 times and never getting a 9 is less than one in 1669. Now realizing that I have played nearly that many games, there are still a lot of games were numbers don't roll anywhere near what they should based on probability. I think there must be something odd about how the RNG is rounded somehow that leads to some numbers coming up too much or not enough. I think it might be rounding because it different game to game, or maybe there are just patterns in the RNG so that it is not very good to begin with.

Whenever I have more than 7 cards in catan basic, the dice shows 7 most of the time for me or for any of the players. I understand it is because I am playing the game for free, and the dice favors the people that are paying for the game in the website. However, it does not exaclty resemble a real game.

In this game the 9 and 11 were rolled every round to the benefit of 1 player in particular and eventually to the 2 players, I sat for 4 rounds without a 5, 8, 10, 4 and this happened several times where you sit with numbers that should roll while they roll 9, 11, 12 numbers that should not roll, till there was no hope. This happens frequently in this game yet when you lose they take 12 to 15 points when you had no control or strategy that will work. I see this complaint multiple times yet you do not fix this bug. 1 player is normally always benefited from the constant roll of 1 number. In the case of this game it was 9 and secondly 11, definitely against all odds. I have seen it do this with 3's, and this time it rolled 12 three times to the benefit of the same player. I quit playing this game for that reason and have tried to find a better place to play this game on line. I enjoy the game and keep coming back but the frustration drives me away time and again.

Its just insanly bad feeling to play this game just pass every turn cause u cant even trade or stuff. And u didnt choose bad strategy - its just dice is broken.
